We seek essence. We explore the essences you want to express in your home and meld this with the essence of place and materials. It's an organic process that yields sanctuary. Roy Prince Architect designs elegantly simple additions, remodels and small homes, which are built with natural materials, are energy efficient, and healthy. We like the word optimize over perfection or maximize. Permaculture ethics and design principles inspire the work. We also design rain water harvesting and grey water systems, and earth works to retain and manage water ~ slow, spread and sink water on the land you are stewarding. We are based in Santa Barbara, California but work with natural builders and others all over the country and beyond. Roy Prince Architect is a design studio and environmental consultancy dedicated to green & natural architecture and building and high performance, environmentally inspired, healthy, and essence rich small green homes and work places. Roy Prince Architect creates healthy and nurturing places and spaces for people to live and work. In addition to permaculture and essence seeking we employ inspired geometries, keen observation and intuition in our design methodologies to achieve place and space that is sanctuary for people. Our goal is to combine client needs and wants with sustainable design principles using current best practices and age old materials and processes to create beautiful and healthy living and working places and spaces sensitive to humans, place, and environment.
